With FIFA 09 players will now behave according to their particular physique, with the speed and weight of individual players being taken into account, and larger, stronger players imparting greater momentum to the ball and to other players. This will determine outcomes such as the distance of a slide tackle, and the power of a header.
Another impressive improvement that FIFA 09 has is that we can now determine the weather, and the time of day of play. The rain has an effect on how the players dress, such as whether they wear gloves, knee-length socks, and so on. It can be determined whether the games are played in daylight, at night or at dusk.
One of the great improvements of FIFA 09 is that the goalkeeper will be able to play with much greater skill, positioning himself more effectively, executing saves with better reactions, and getting back into gear much faster after a save has been made. With these better techniques we won’t be able to blame the software if we let a goal in.
The guys who have worked to bring FIFA 09 up to its present level have used the laws of physics, and techniques of mathematical modeling, to create a much improved game, with loads of enhancements to make the playing more authentic. This means more responsive first time shooting and passing, greater control when dribbling and trapping, and more authentic collisions.
Amazon have published that FIFA 09 will be released on October 3rd 2008!
Fans of the game have been awaiting this news and will be keen to mark it in their diary as the date to get hold of the latest installation of their favourite football simulation.

The “Wii” version of FIFA 09 will concentrate on the fun element of the Wii, rather than being a serious football simulation. Gone will be the realistic graphics of other nex-gen consoles and instead will appear the cartoon-like figures more associated with children’s games.
This fits in well with the ethos of Nintendo when designing the Wii, that anyone can pick up a controller and have fun, but will clearly not be what serious FIFA games are looking for.

Above is yet another screenshot from the new version of EA Sports’ soccer simulation, FIFA 09.
As you can see, there appears to be a linesman running in the background of the shot, which would hint that there will be “in play” officials on this game, which will be a welcome addition in 09.
In the past, officials have flitted from being in the game on one version, and not the next, and as they weren’t visible during gameplay on the pitch in FIFA 08, it would seem their return was imminent in this version.

As we approach the summer, with the domestic football season in the UK ending, and the Euro 2008 tournement holding little or no interest , attention has started to turn to what people want from the next installation of the FIFA series.
The Euro 2008 game will hold a little interest during the summer, and the enhanced gameplay should give some useful hints as to what we can expect from FIFA 09, but as more and more firm answers come out, the interest will grow.
