With its staggeringly impressive 250 additions and enhancements, Electronic Arts’ launch of FIFA09 has made football gaming fans around the globe sit up and take notice, and it seems that FIFA is now a serious challenge to its main rival, Pro Evolution Soccer.
With the use of real life current data, players are now passing and running in the style of their real life counterparts, with superbly realistic collisions taking the game up to a whole new level. This year Electronic Arts will launch the first sports videogame that will allow up to twenty people to play a single game of FIFA 09 together. Instead of thinking as an individual player you’ll have to think and play as a team in Be A Pro: 10 vs. 10 Online Team Play.
Last month Electronic Arts unveiled the complete music track listing for FIFA 09, with a soundtrack featuring 42 numbers covering a range of genres, including music from Italian electro-funk artist Caesar Palace, English rock band Kasabian, Norwegian band Datarock, French hip-hop artist Soprano, and even a Tom Jones remix by Junkie XL. That’s just to name but a few!
 Last month Electronic Arts announced that Californian Maurice Edu, of the Scottish  team Rangers, will be a FIFA 09 cover athlete for North America. As a cover athlete  he will be in the good company of two other footballers playing at international  level, Ronaldinho of the Brazil national team, and the goalkeeper of the Mexican  national team, Guillermo Ochoa.
FIFA 09 offers a great new level of authenticity, with roaring crowds, great stadium atmosphere, and commentary, which have all been regionalized in precise detail. FIFA 09 has an additional 15 new stadiums. It features over 500 licensed teams, and 30 leagues which are accurately represented with correct kits and badges.
FIFA 09 includes the popular feature innovation, Be A Pro, which has now been expanded to include a career mode. This allows you to create your very own professional player, develop and improve his skills over a few seasons, and see if you can eventually build him up to be a national legend.
FIFA 09 lets you customize tactical settings so that CPU players and your team perform just like teams out there in the real world. You can adjust the positioning and support play of your teammates, deciding exactly how they will play in a variety of situations. You can save your tactics while still making strategic decisions as the game progresses.
With FIFA 09 players will now behave according to their particular physique, with the speed and weight of individual players being taken into account, and larger, stronger players imparting greater momentum to the ball and to other players. This will determine outcomes such as the distance of a slide tackle, and the power of a header.
Another impressive improvement that FIFA 09 has is that we can now determine the weather, and the time of day of play. The rain has an effect on how the players dress, such as whether they wear gloves, knee-length socks, and so on. It can be determined whether the games are played in daylight, at night or at dusk.
