With its staggeringly impressive 250 additions and enhancements, Electronic Arts’ launch of FIFA09 has made football gaming fans around the globe sit up and take notice, and it seems that FIFA is now a serious challenge to its main rival, Pro Evolution Soccer.

With the use of real life current data, players are now passing and running in the style of their real life counterparts, with superbly realistic collisions taking the game up to a whole new level. John Erikson of gamingheaven.net is particularly impressed by the animations of the players when they are off ball, running into free space, and calling for the ball, and I agree that this does add some stunning realism to the game.  Read more…

This year Electronic Arts will launch the first sports videogame that will allow up to twenty people to play a single game of FIFA 09 together. Instead of thinking as an individual player you’ll have to think and play as a team in Be A Pro: 10 vs. 10 Online Team Play.

Last month Electronic Arts unveiled the complete music track listing for FIFA 09, with a soundtrack featuring 42 numbers covering a range of genres, including music from Italian electro-funk artist Caesar Palace, English rock band Kasabian, Norwegian band Datarock, French hip-hop artist Soprano, and even a Tom Jones remix by Junkie XL. That’s just to name but a few!

North America Fifa 09 Cover

 Last month Electronic Arts announced that Californian Maurice Edu, of the Scottish  team Rangers, will be a FIFA 09 cover athlete for North America. As a cover athlete  he will be in the good company of two other footballers playing at international  level, Ronaldinho of the Brazil national team, and the goalkeeper of the Mexican  national team, Guillermo Ochoa.

Another impressive improvement that FIFA 09 has is that we can now determine the weather, and the time of day of play. The rain has an effect on how the players dress, such as whether they wear gloves, knee-length socks, and so on. It can be determined whether the games are played in daylight, at night or at dusk.
